Seabrook was first settled in 1638 when it was part of Hampton. It was incorporated as a separate town in 1768, and named Seabrook after the Seabrook River. The boundary between Hampton and Seabrook was subject to periodic dispute for nearly two centuries, and was finally settled by court decision in 1953. Seabrook is now home to the Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant, itself a source of much dispute and controversy. Seabrook is home to Seabrook Yankee Greyhound Park. Seabrook Harbor is home of the Yankee Fisherman's Cooperative - an active fishing fleet that brings in fish and lobster daily.
