t Valley, this town was first named New Plymouth, after the original Plymouth colony in Massachusetts.
The grant for this town went to settlers from Hollis, all of whom had been soldiers in the Seven Years' War. Some had originally come from Plymouth, Massachusetts.
Plymouth is the home of Plymouth State University. Main Street has an interesting mix of stores, restaurants, bakeries, and sporting goods stores. You'll also find some nice Plymouth B&B Inns within walking distance of downtown Plymouth and the Flying Monkey Music Hall.
