First granted in 1753, Alexandria was named for Alexandria, Virginia, location of a conference that resulted in the declaration of the French and Indian War. Alexandria, NH was the birthplace of Luther C. Ladd, the first enlisted soldier to lose his life in the Civil War.
Alexandria sits nestled beside the beautiful Newfound Lake and below picturesque Mount Cardigan. Another attraction is Mount Mowglis, named for Rudyard Kipling's Jungle Book hero.
