With over 273 lakes, the New Hampshire Lakes Region is popular four-season vacation location. Lake Winnipesaukee is New Hampshire's largest lake, stretching 72 miles across, and has over 2 74 habitable islands. The larger lakes in the lakes region include; Winnipesaukee, Waukewan, Big Squam, Little Squam, Lake Winnisquam, Lake Wentworth, Newfound Lake and more than 250 other lakes, ponds and various bodies of water.
The NH Lakes Region is home to Laconia, where the annual motorcycle races attract motorcyclists from all over the country. In Meredith you'll find lakefront lodging, shopping and dining at Mill Falls in Meredith Bay.
In Madison, you can find one of the largest glacial erratics in the world, which is recognized as a national natural landmark. In Gilford you can find an ancient castle and Gunstock Mountain Ski Area. Weirs Beach features lakefront dining, fun and seasonal boat tours of the big lake.
The New Hampshire International Speedway is located in Belmont, just minutes from I-93. Tilton features tax-free famous name outlet shopping. Plymouth features a state college, revitalized downtown and gateway to the White Mountains region to the north. The New Hampshire Lakes Region is an ideal vacation destination any time of the year.
