Ahhh, the Great North Woods in northern New Hampshire, a sportsmens paradise and an excellent choice for your New Hampshire fishing vacation. This far northern area features some fantastic fly fishing, lake trolling, and trout ponds. This is where the headwaters of New England's largest river, the Connecticut may be found. The man-made string of lakes called 1st Connecticut, 2nd Connecticut and 3rd Connecticut are home to many lake trout, landlocked salmon, perch and other species.

One of the most famous fishing spots in New Hampshire is located in Pittsburg - it's called the "Trophy Stretch" of the the Connecticut River from First Connecticut Lake to Lake Francis. This region has produced some monster trout and salmon. There are foot trails and paths that wind from the Lake Francis Campground at The Inlet to Lake Francis north to the Judges and Jury Box, Corner Pools and Dam Pools just below the First Connecticut Lake. Some of the better known fishing spot and pools on this stretch of the Connecticut River are located here; The In-Between Water, Bend Pools, Bridge Pool, Junction Pool, Doc's Pool, The Skating Rink, and The Step Pools.
