New Hampshire ATV Trails & Rentals
NH ATVing, OHRV Riding, Trails, Clubs, Dealers, and Rentals
One of the fastest growing sports is ATV riding - or ATVing. Quad riding, ATV or OHRV riding (off highway recreational riding) is a booming nationwide outdoor sport. Many New Hampshire ATV clubs exist with the mission of promoting the safety and use of ATV riding and vacationing. New Hampshire is a great choice for your ATV adventure vacation. Many of our suggested vacation rental lodges offer ATVing right from your cottage or cabin!
ATV's ( All Terrain Vehicles) are a relatively re cent invention - the early ATV machines first appeared to the consumer market in the early 1970s. The machines have made several major safety advancements in recent years. ATVing can be quite safe if proper speed and caution is used. Major ATV manufacturers include: Bombardier (Can-Am), Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, Kymco, Polaris, Suzuki, Yamaha and others.
ATV Riding Safety
Many common ATV injuries can be prevented with the use of proper protective equipment. Most ATV manufacturers recommend at least a suitable DOT-approved helmet, protective eyewear, gloves and suitable riding boots. Extreme ATV riders should opt for a motocross-style chest protector and knee/shin guards for further protection. Proper tires (suited to a particular terrain) can also play a vital role in preventing injuries. The American Academy of Pediatrics and the CPSC recommends that no children under the age of 16 should ride ATVs.
