America’s Stonehenge

Merrimack Valley New Hampshire Attraction

America's Stonehenge Merrimack Valley New Hampshire attraction

105 Haverhill Road, Salem, NH • Ph: 603-893-8300

Formerly known as Mystery Hill, this unusual archaeological site contains many ancient rock structures “built” by humans and scattered across approximately 30 acres within Salem city limits. America’s Stonehenge includes hiking trails, an active alpaca farm, and is a huge tourist attraction of the New Age variety. Explore a maze of man-made caverns and ceremonial meeting places. Much like the original Stonehenge in Britain, America’s Stonehenge is also an accurate astrological calendar and can be used today to determine solar and lunar events.

[label style="default"]Review[/label] "Five us us spent a great day wandering around America’s Stonehenge.  Our party ranged from my ten-year old niece to my 60+ year-old mother.  (With 3 of us in our 30′s) All of us enjoyed the walk & the unique historical and astronomical facts.  We also enjoyed seeing the alpacas throughout the trail.  It was a nice way to enjoy perfect weather for a few hours. While some folks may find the $10 admission steep – we didn’t think it was too bad (perhaps because two of us live in southern CA – where we’re used to things costing much more).  We also took advantage of an online coupon to save $ on admission. It’s a nice way to enjoy a summer day with the family." – Yelp Review

[label style="default"]Review[/label] "How did these heavy rock slabs get here? A short video awaits you as you enter the building, just wait for it to begin as it is continuously run. It won’t take long to walk through, but my friend and I were chatting and enjoying the day so we took a little longer. This is a great place to walk around on a nice afternoon and follow a simple written guide. The best part was to walk inside of a rock structure and see the small hidden passage. I was hoping for snow since you can snowshoe – but the weather didn’t co-operate. However, the beautiful sun shone on the clean white snow and I took a refreashing breath – nothing beats the smell and feeling of nature. There are special events that coincide with astronomical events that look both informative and fun. Be happy to check out the cute alpacas munching away! I wish we could pet them." – Trip Advisor Review
