NH Casino Ballroom History
First opened in 1899, the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom started out as a summer performance center and offered rooms for both employees and guests on the upper floors, as well as dining areas, dacing areas and even bowling alleys! With the birth of the Big Band era, the ballroom transitioned from a Vaudville venue to a key attreaction for such names as Duke Ellington, Tommy Dorsey, Louis Armstrong and Count Basie among others.
The 1960's brought the introduction of rock and roll to the ballroom with such acts as the Supremes and Lovin' Spoonful and later, Led Zepplin and Janis Joplin. The early 1990's brought a change in management and some much-needed renovations to this historic landmark, and today it continues to be a thriving music scene in New Hampshire.
